Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Rose

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing a card set that I made for a dear friend of mine using Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Rose stamp set. I have been dying to use this set for a while and I was so happy to finally use it!

The first thing I did with this stamp set was stamp the Rose layers using different variations of color. To make things easier I used my Misti tool to do all my stamping and the Altenew mini ink cubes. Here are the color combinations I used in order from lightest to darkest:

  • Pink Rose: Frosty Pink, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, Velvet, Ruby Red, and Grapevine
  • Yellow Rose: Buttercream, Mango Smoothie, Warm Sunshine, Caramel Toffee, Paper Bag, and Mocha
  • White/Gray Rose: Morning Frost, Evening Gray 2nd generation stamping, Evening Gray double stamped, Moon Rock, Lava Rock, and Jet Black
  • Teal Rose: Sea Glass, Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon, Emerald, and Evergreen

I also stamped the leaf layers in two color combinations using Altenew ink cubes:

  • Green Leaves: Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen, and Jet Black
  • Gray leaves: Morning Frost, Evening Gray, Moon Rock, and Lava Rock

After all the stamping, I die cut all the roses and leaves using their coordinating dies. I also die cut multiple frames out of white cardstock using the Avery Elle’s Wonky stitches die and a rectangle die. After that, I put these cards together using foam squares and added a sentiment to each of them. Lastly, I added some accents to the card using Black Nuvo drops to finish it off.
I wanted to create a coordinating box to store the cards in, so I decided to create my own pattern paper. I took two sheets of 8.5″ x 11″ 110 lbs heavy weight Neenah Solar White cardstock and did the following:

  • On the first sheet, which I used for the lid of the box, I used the second layer of the Rose stamps and the second layer of the leaf stamps from the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Rose stamp set to do all my stamping using some of the colors I previously used above for the roses. To fill in the white spaces I used a black pen and added dots.
  • On the second sheet, which I used to make the box, I created a pattern on both sides. On one side I used a stencil and sponged the background using Distress Oxide Black Soot ink. On the other side, I used the little flowers that come in the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Rose stamp set and stamped it all over the background using some of the colors I used on the roses above.

Here is a picture of the pattern paper:I’ll make another post on another day to show how I put the Box together, but here is a picture of the finished project:I absolutely loved using this stamp set. It makes gorgeous realistic looking roses which are perfect for any occasion!

Hope to have given you some inspiration! Thanks,

Yami
