Hippo Bird-Day Trifold

Hi! On today’s post, I’m sharing a birthday card I made for a family member. This card was inspired by a recent video I watched by Nichol Spohr in which she made a one layer trifold card.

To make this card, I first created the background. I loved the clouds background that Nichol did on her video, and I wanted to create something similar. Now, I do not have the cloud stencil that she used so I created my own stencil using thick cardstock and Lawn Fawn’s Puffy Cloud Border dies. Using the cloud stencil I created, I sponged the background using cracked pistachio distress ink onto a 5.25″ x 12″ piece of white Bristol cardstock.

Next, I stamped the images from the My Favorite Things Happy Hippos stamp set using Black Onyx VersaFine ink (water safe). I also used a few images from My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday and Up in the air. I watercolor the images using my Zig Clean Color marker. My color palette for this card was green and pinks with yellow as an accent!

To finish this card, I scored the cardstock at the 4″ and 8″ marks to make the trifold.

This was actually a quick and fun card to put together! Also, coloring with Zig Clean Color markers on Bristol paper is so fast and easy… and the color does not bleed through the other side of the paper! Also the colors are always so vibrant!

Till next time! Thanks!

Yami
